Arctic Foxes Can Survive Extreme Cold
Arctic foxes can withstand temperatures as low as -70°C (-94°F) thanks to their thick fur, compact bodies, and specialized circulatory system.
About this fact
Arctic foxes are masters of cold-weather survival. Their dense, multi-layered fur provides excellent insulation, and their short legs, muzzle, and ears reduce heat loss. They also have a countercurrent heat exchange system in their paws to keep them from freezing on ice and snow. They can even use their bushy tails as a warm blanket when sleeping.
