An Ostrich's Eye Is Bigger Than Its Brain
An ostrich's eye is about the size of a billiard ball and is larger than its brain, giving it excellent long-distance vision.
About this fact
Ostriches have the largest eyes of any land animal, measuring about 5 centimeters (2 inches) in diameter β roughly the size of a billiard ball. Their eyes are actually larger than their brains. This large eye size provides them with exceptional vision, allowing them to spot predators from great distances across the open savannas where they live. Despite the small brain size relative to their eyes, ostriches are not unintelligent and exhibit complex behaviors.
