Dragonflies Are Ancient Insects, Existing for 300 Million Years

Dragonflies have been flying the Earth's skies for an incredibly long time. Their ancestors, some with wingspans of over two feet (Meganeura), lived during the Carboniferous period, even before the dinosaurs appeared. Modern dragonflies are skilled aerial predators, with excellent eyesight and agile flight capabilities, able to fly forwards, backwards, and hover.
