Stick Insects Are Masters of Camouflage
Stick insects perfectly mimic twigs and leaves, even swaying like branches in the wind, to avoid predators.
About this fact
Stick insects (Phasmatodea) have evolved incredible camouflage to blend in with their environment. Their bodies are elongated and often brown or green, resembling twigs. Some species even have flattened bodies that look like leaves. To enhance their disguise, they often sway gently, mimicking the movement of foliage in a breeze. They can also remain motionless for hours. Some species can even change color to better match their surroundings.
