The Average Color of the Universe Is Beige
Scientists averaged the light from over 200,000 galaxies and found the universe's average color is a beige hue, nicknamed 'Cosmic Latte.'
About this fact
In 2002, astronomers Karl Glazebrook and Ivan Baldry calculated the average color of all light in the universe. By analyzing the light spectra from a large sample of galaxies, they determined that if you could see the entire universe at once, its combined light would appear as a slightly beigeish white. They initially called it 'cosmic spectrum,' but after a vote, the name 'Cosmic Latte' was chosen.
